Lisa Rose, started this group over ten years ago with her best friend, Natasha Vaughn. It started out as couponing and budgeting and teaching people to be frugal and has evolved into a non-profit which now rescues food, feeds people with that food and teaches people how to can and preserve it.
The aim of Annapolis Valley Frugal Moms Society is to relieve poverty by providing basic necessities of life including food and clothing to individuals and families who are of low income.
We ended 2022 by rescuing and giving out over 100,000 lbs of food and kept it out of landfills. By June of 2023 we had already surpassed that number and are striving to get to 200,000 by year end. In addition to that our group has received numerous awards in 2021-2022 and hope for more in 2023.
We continue to rescue food and feed people, teach people how to preserve food for long term storage and we hope some day to have an actual venue and have a warehouse and teach workshops and provide for people in a much bigger capacity.
